LaFleur Hits Milestone

The TCU Women's Basketball squad has a new member in the "K" club.
Senior Guard TK LaFleur is proud of reaching the 1,000 points milestone even if all 1,000 did not come from TCU.
“It’s a good feeling,” LaFleur said. “It’s definately something players strive for. 1,000 point, 2,000 point milestone, so the fact that I am one of (twelve) makes me feel like I have done something really special.”
LaFleur reached the mark at the Colorado State home game on January 27.
The university’s women’s basketball program has had twelve players reach 1,000 points, however LaFleur is not included because she scored around 400 of the points at another university.
“We will not count TK towards our 1,000-point club,” Assistant Director of Media Relations Andy Anderson wrote in an e-mail. “She transferred here prior to her junior season and thus has only scored about 600 points in a TCU uniform.”
LaFleur said she started playing basketball at age seven and began her college career at the University of Nebraska.
“Played there, has a great time. It just wasn’t a good mix for the style of play and how I wanted to play so I transferred here and now I’m here,” LaFleur said.
LaFleur knew the mark was coming up this season but decided put the team before her personal goals, she said.
“At the beginning of the season I knew how many points I needed and as it kept getting closer and closer my roommate and I kept talking about it,” LaFleur said. “It was on my mind but I also wanted to stay with the team and not go nuts trying to get it or anything.”
LaFleur did not know exactly which point made 1,000, she said.
“After the game (her teammates) told me it was on a free throw or something.” she said.
LaFleur said her next goal is to graduate and enjoy the rest of the season. Junior Guard Helena Sverrisdottir also reached 1,000 points this season.
